The vast majority of partner visa applications are prepared and lodged by the visa applicant and sponsor without the professional assistance of a migration agent or solicitor. When close to 90% of all partner visa applications lodged are approved according to the Department’s publicly available statistics, migration agents/solicitors claiming to have 90% or higher approval rates isn’t that impressive when put into context:

Year 2014-15 2015-16 2016-17
Lodged 62,996 52,177 56,333
Refused 6,689 6,190 5,799
% of approved applications 89.38% 88.14% 89.71%

We don’t pretend that preparing a partner visa application is highly difficult, and that you must engage a migration agent or solicitor to prepare and lodge your application on your behalf.

We provide ample free and comprehensive partner visa information and examples for statutory declarations and Form 888 on our website. The Department’s website also has comprehensive partner visa information and document checklists. Most applicants use the ample free resources that are now available online to prepare and lodge their own comprehensive and understandable partner visa applications, which are generally approved without issue.

After assisting hundreds of clients with their partner visa applications, including both preparing and lodging applications on behalf of clients as well as providing ad hoc consultations, we now have a much better understanding of the parts of the partner visa application that clients most struggle with, and where some professional assistance may be able to provide you with some informative and valuable advice, and time saving with preparing your application.
